Peckmeout is the name. Sharing high quality content focused on home gym equipment and the wider “fitness” topic is the aim!
Who exactly are you?!
I’m Wayne and I write the vast majority (OK, at the moment all!) the content on Peckmeout. I’m approaching middle age faster than I care to admit and have the usual pressures we all face in “life” – a demanding full time job, a family, other hobbies and a sweet tooth!
Over a decade ago I discovered Stronglifts 5×5 and the rest as they say… is history! Fitness very quickly became important to me and I’ve spend countless hours since then in the gym working out and on the computer preparing and researching the topic. The Stronglifts app really did sow the seed for a lifelong passion for me!
Am I an expert? Nope – just a really passionate amateur!
That’s all any of us are: amateurs. We don’t live long enough to be anything else.

While lifting heavy weights got me hooked initially it was as I gained experience that I really opened my mind to alternative training methods and really learnt to have fun with my training.
The first half of my training career was spent trawling the internet absorbing as much information as I possibly could. After the initial run through of Stronglifts my training moved on to follow what was hot at any given moment in time. I didn’t program hop, but as someone who worked through being a newbie I was a bit at sea with what to focus on next!
In this period of soul searching I found myself swayed by anonymous posters on the internet who seemed to be able to answer quite general and open questions with DEFINITE answers – yes I MUST gain weight or IMMEDIATELY cut, keep focused on lifting an arbitrary target someone else made up, you name it – someone online is claiming it is ESSENTIAL and there were conflicting opinions everywhere!
Looking back on it I have no idea why I followed some of the advice I did! BUT it did all lead me to where I am now. I’m sure that is a familiar story for many – but hopefully now we can help each other muddle through!
What inspired you to start this website?
When I was at school I started a ton of websites on different hobbies I had at the time as I just loved the internet and web design. When I became a “grown up” I very quickly ran out of time so all of these sites fell away and I lost touch with computing in general as I started a career in another area.
But then, in 2013, I thought it would be a blast to rekindle my interest in web development and started this site!
I’d grown increasingly frustrated at the lack of content focused on the UK market. Finding reviews of the equipment we have available in the UK and Europe was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
All too often I found posts online where people in the UK paid an exorbitant fee to ship equipment in from America as they knew it was awesome from all the reviews and social media coverage online. This seems safer than taking a risk on a local supplier – I totally get that and have been down this route myself.
Having spent hours hunting down local suppliers and equipment as well as spending thousands of pounds buying it I feel I’m in a great position to share my thoughts with others and encourage everyone else to share or comment with their own experiences.
Hopefully my content helps people who, like me, are looking for high quality, detailed reviews of equipment that is available in the UK as well as the UK supply chain who would benefit from us buying local where appropriate.
And if you’d rather import equipment after doing your research? That’s cool too. At least you have enough information to make an informed choice.
What experience do you have?
Many formal qualifications… Of which very little relate to health and fitness directly 🙂
From an equipment perspective I am on at least “version 4” of my own home gym! In changing it out so frequently I’ve had the opportunity to try out a ton of different equipment (and spend a load of money – don’t tell my other half..!) so I have a good understanding of the standard we should expect when building a home gym.
I’ve tried to ‘walk the walk’ as often as possible – putting my money where my mouth is with gym equipment, trying out different workout programmes, fought the good fight trying to stick to my macros, I’ve bulked 50lbs and then subsequently cut the fat mass back off again… You name it, I have likely tried it!
In the wider fitness niche I bring a load of experience clocking up the hours training and, most importantly, PASSION! As noted above I have been in this space for over a decade. I’ve worked through countless books and programmes in that time building a rounded base of knowledge to share with you guys.

And as every article is researched thoroughly before posting it helps us all out as I inevitably get to learn a few new things when pulling the post together too!
Do I know everything? Nope. But I’m just trying to share my journey with everyone! 🙂
It’s easy to give up when you’re unsure what to do next – hopefully some of what I put out there helps others find their feet with their training. Then maybe a few others will – like me – find a hobby for life!
Where did the name come from?
Honestly, I wish I could remember!
When the site was first started in 2013 it must have felt like a good idea!
